Join us on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 at the Active Aging Meadville Center, 1034 Park Ave, Meadville, PA 16335 from 12:30-4:30 PM.

$10 tickets includes two beverages, two desserts and all day:

  • Hear from past Youth Winners (poems, stories and more)

Coffeehouse Classes

Abigail Silvis- Illustrations Class

Join Abi for a fun and engaging class on how to draw a finch. Abi is the illustrator for Thistle, Bee, & Finch kids book. She will walk you through the steps to draw a finch like Finley. Great illustrations make any book a hit. Learn the basics and draw your own adorable characters. All ages are welcome. Class is 20 minutes in the Kitchen classroom. Class is from 1:35-1:55 pm.

Janet Wells-Blogging Tips

Janet shares her wealth of blogging tips from years of posting her blog, Janet of Wells Woods. She is a published blogger, has stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul, and is in the process of publishing a collection of nature stories. Learn the basics of blogging. Blogging is a great way to develop your writer’s voice and to begin your journey to publication. Join Janet in the Kitchen classroom for a 15-minute class. Class time is 3:00-3:15 pm.

Janyce Brawn-Worldbuilding Basics

Janyce is the published author and illustrator of the middle-grade fantasy novels, Tales of the Teleporting Topsider. Her vivid imagination and creativity blossomed into a wild world of drainosaurs and more. Come and gain knowledge for writing your next fantastical tale. If you love reading fantasy, this class will open your eyes to an appreciation of your favorite fantasy authors. Class is in the Kitchen classroom. 30 minutes in length. Time 2:25-2:55 pm.

Coffeehouse Classes

William Burlingame-Haiku Poetry

Bill is a self-taught poet who loves the Japanese poetry genres. He plans to lead you through more than just counting syllables. He will share the essence of Haiku and the secrets to sharing nature, seasons, and emotions through well chosen words. The class will be 30 minutes in the Kitchen classroom. Class is from 1:00-1:30 pm.

Ellen Byham-Other Poetry

Ellen is a published author of devotionals and her latest children’s book, Thistle, Bee, & Finch. Ellen will share the basics on creating two poems in this class. You will create a Nonet and Freestyle poem during this engaging class. This class is for all ages. Class will be in the Kitchen classroom. Length will be 15 minutes. Class if from 3:15-3:30 pm.

Elaine Williams

Elaine is a published author who writes primarily for her family. She will walk you through elements of preparing devotional and wisdom writing to pass down to your children and grandchildren. Leave a legacy of love to your family. The class will be 15 minutes in length in the Kitchen classroom. Class time is from 2:05-2:20 pm.
